Ferrari F50 Wrecked in UK

A Ferrari F50 has been heavily damaged following a crash in the United Kingdom.
The crash occurred on Wednesday morning local time on the A43 dual-carriageway. It is believed that the driver lost control of the V12 powered supercar while entering the road. As a result, the F50 crashed into a lamp post causing serious damage to the rear end.

A witness told local reporters, “I was driving on the A43 near Brackley and saw the Ferrari wrapped around the lamppost. There was a chap wearing a Ferrari T-shirt stood besides another chap and another car had put its hazard lights on to block the lane which was 50 yards off the westbound roundabout.”
ITV reports that this could be the most expensive car crash in the U.K. since Rowan Atkinson destroyed his dark coloured McLaren F1 back in 2011.

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Video: Ferrari 288 GTO Loses Wheel on Japanese Highway - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Video: Ferrari 288 GTO Loses Wheel in High Speed Run

A video recently came to our attention, shot on a Japanese highway via dashcam, which appears to show an unfortunate incident involving a Ferrari 288 GTO. The Ferrari enters the scene in a blaze of glory. The exhausts are shooting flames, it is a sight to behold. Minutes later however, the car loses what appears to be central lug nut causing the driver to pull across to the hard shoulder for some urgent repairs.
We suspect that the car was on a shakedown run having just left a workshop. Hopefully we never see another incident like this again, although it didn’t look as though it caused too much damage to the historic supercar

The Ferrari 288 GTO is a homologation special based on the Ferrari 308 GTB. It bears the same name as the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, although its competition history is not quite as prestigious. It was built to compete in the Group B Race series, however, before the car could even turn a wheel on the race track, the FIA disestablished the class.

The Ferrari 288 GTO features a 2.8 litre engine, debored from the 3.0 litre unit found in the 308 GTB. Only 272 examples were produced and it remains one of the most sought-after collectors Ferrari’s

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Ferrari F430 spontaneously combusts in Hong Kong - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Ferrari F430 spontaneously combusts in Hong Kong

A Ferrari F430 supercar has been recently involved in an incident in Hong Kong which left it completely destroyed.

Incidents in which supercars decide to start a fire on their own seem to happen more often than before and the newest one is coming all the way from Hong Kong. According to the local media, the model in question, a Ferrari F430, hasn’t been involved in an accident but it still managed to burn down to bare metal. We are not sure if anyone was hurt in the incident so if you have more info on the subject, please feel free to share.
The Ferrari F430 is the predecessor of the 458 Italia. The model has been in production between 2004 and 2009 in Maranello, being presented at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, and it was offered in two body styles, coupe and roadster. The supercar has a rear mid-engine and rear-wheel drive layout, taking its power from a 4.3 liter V8 engine. The unit is capable of producing 483 HP (360 kW) and 465 Nm (343 lb-ft) of torque, available at 5,250 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes 4.4 seconds.

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Sights and Sounds: Ferrari 599XX EVO - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Ferrari 599XX EVO is one of the most peculiar car the Italian car maker has ever produced. It is a track-only version of the 599 road car, which cost, when it was introduced, near as makes no difference $2 million. But you couldn’t take it home with you. It also comes with a rear spoiler which is a $500K optional extra!

Sounds like a terrible deal, but almost 30 people bought the Ferrari 599XX EVO and have been enjoying it since during official Ferrari track day events. Here’s one of them brought to – well, pulled into – the street of Beverly Hills as part of Ferrari 60th anniversary celebrations:

Compared to the standard 599, the stripped-out Ferrari 599XX EVO is considerably lighter and has a more powerful engine as well – 700 against 620. It also gets racing slick tires  (29/67 R19 Front and 31/71 R19 Rear) and a unique aero kit that produces 80 kg of downforce at 200 km/h (630 kg at 300 km/h). The F1-inspired DRS rear wing is part of the aero package and plays a major role in keeping the car in check during high speed cornering.

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - [VIDEO] Ferrari LaFerrari drifting at Monza - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

[VIDEO] Ferrari LaFerrari drifting at Monza

The newest video starring a Ferrari LaFerrari is showing the impressive hybrid supercar drifting at the famous Monza racetrack.

The Ferrari LaFerrari has been officially presented to the public back in 2013, during the Geneva Motor Show, in its final production form, along with one of its main rivals, the McLaren P1. The model in question is the company’s first ever hybrid supercar and also the most powerful model to roll off the assembly line in Maranello. Despite not being that new, the vehicle continues to amaze us almost every time a new clip is showing it doing something different.

The newest video with the LaFerrari is revealing the hybrid supercar on the famous Italian racetrack, Monza, while being driven on the Parabolica corner. Don’t believe for a single second that the drifting speed is low, because this is one powerful supercar with rear-wheel drive. The model has a 6.3 liter V12 engine under its hood, backed up by an electric motor, which is producing a total output of 950 HP (708 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes less than 3 seconds and the supercar can reach a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Stock BMW M5 Faster than a Ferrari FF? How Is this Possible? [Video] - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for BMWs and their M versions but this is taking things a little too far. The guys from GTBoard.com just published a new drag race video showcasing what they call a stock BMW F10 M5 going up against a Ferrari FF. Care to guess who won?

Well it wasn’t the Ferrari, that’s for sure! Yeah, we had the same reaction. The BMW starts off the race a little slower as the supercar bites the start a little but by the end of the race, the M5 has its nose ahead. How is this possible?

The specs show a clear winner before starting the engines

Looking at the spec sheets this result is absolutely mind-blowing. The M5 has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet making 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque which seems impressive but looking at the weight, sure fades away. That’s because the Bimmer also has to carry around 1,945 kg (4,287 lbs) which is huge.

On the other hand, the Ferrari is in the supercar league, even though it has four seats. It’s powered by a bigger 6.3-liter V12 engine making 660 HP and 683 Nm (503 lb-ft) of torque and weighs less, tipping the scale at 1,790 kg (3,946 lbs). Both of them use 7-speed dual-clutch gearboxes but the Italian is all-wheel drive.

Now, then, how is this outcome even possible? The owner of the BMW claims that his car is completely stock but we find that extremely hard to believe. After obliterating a 700 HP Audi RS6 last week, now we get to see this happening? What is this sorcery?

Daihatsu Crashes into Lamborghini Murcielago in Malaysia

Official details about the crash remain unclear but it appears as though the Daihatsu simply rear-ended the expensive mid-engined Italian supercar in traffic. The wet roads inevitably played a role in the crash as well.

Daihatsu Crashes into Lamborghini Murcielago in Malaysia

Fortunately for the driver of the Murcielago, the damage doesn’t seem all that significant. A new rear bumper will have to be installed as long as replacement rear grilles but apart from that, no other obvious damage (except to the exhaust tip) is visible.

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Could the F80 be the Enzo of the future? - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Ferrari-F80-Concept

When the news hit that the gorgeous Ferrari Enzo would no longer be made, many in the industry wore sad, long faces and the lucky few who could have bought one of these exclusive super cars were saddened as well.

It’s been a few years now since the famed super machine has been gone, but an Italian car designer named Adriano Raeli has created a stunning tribute that might as well be the Enzo of the future.
Ferrari’s anniversary editions have always been nothing short of legendary. From the twin-turbocharged rawness of the F40 to the modern F1-inspired design of Enzo, these signature builds are always pushing the envelope of automotive engineering and design. Recently, the LaFerrari was introduced but not much has been said or written about it, nor have we seen much info or progress on the radar other than a few test drives here and there by the top automotive magazines and a few lucky race cars drivers doing some videos for specific use.

Labeled the F80, Raeli’s virtual successor to LaFerrari in some ironic way would make it the Enzo’s grandson and it is purely a fantastic imaginary project of a future Ferrari flagship, with plenty of emphasis on the future of the automobile. Adriano’s design is absolutely space-age, with wide, swooping bodywork and an aggressively crouched stance reminiscent of some craft or machine from the sci-fi novel A Fire Upon the Deep (Zone of Thought) by Vernon Vinge. Raeli’s vision for the future Ferrari is truly beautiful – consisting of fluid aerodynamics and minimal accents. The typical Ferrari styling cues are all present, however, it is important to note that this F80 is nothing less or nothing more than a full blown F1 vehicle disguised or dressed in street clothing, and the massive apertures between the wheels and body are the biggest visual cues that in fact, gives its camouflage away!

Another interesting piece of information on this “street legal” racing machine is without a doubt, Raeli’s inspiration, which unlike all other Ferrari in their corral based on styling, demand, cues and other ingredients, his motivation comes strictly from the Next Generation Air Dominance program (NGAD), a military venture to appoint the next wave of air superiority fighters.

NGAD’s requirement state that, in order to be considered, an aircraft must have multirole capabilities, which explains the road-legal layout. Its entire body is like a work of art and is expected to make the hearts of many supercar fans beat faster. Should this “out-of-this-world” machine ever came to be, we will see lines of prospect buyers gather immediately, and we’ll likely see people such as Pink Floyd’s drummer and long-time Ferrari collector Nick Mason among many as first in line.

The whole concept begins with paper sketches, moves quickly into 3D rendering software, and finally into a clay model. Raeli event went as far with his concept as to outline a unique hybrid system — something both enthusiasts and environmentalists can agree on, sort of. Under the hood sits a V8 mated to twin turbochargers and a KERS system for an additional 300 ponies, a combination good for 1,200-horsepower. The F80′s proposed weight is that of only 1,763 lbs and given the power-to-weight formula, should result in a 0-62 mph dash in only 2.2-seconds with a top speed of 310 mph!

Unfortunately Adriano Raeli does not work for Ferrari despite his Italian roots, thus many of us have this gut feeling that the F80 unlikely will ever make it on the streets. But if it does, it will certainly and proudly be a worthy successor to Ferrari’s own current supercar, LaFerrari. Regardless of what happens with this blueprint, this amazing concept car is a breathtaking project and a machine to truly admire, even if the final copy that stay around is made out of clay!

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Ferrari Marks 60 Years in the US With a Grandiose Bash on Rodeo Drive - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Ferrari has been selling cars in the United States for six decades. To mark the occasion, it took over Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles on Sunday, lining the street with 60 of its best, most famous, and latest offerings, including a new model. Unsurprisingly, the result was a parade to make even the most conspicuous of consumers feel inadequate, even those leaving the nearby Bulgari and Louis Vuitton shops loaded with fresh purchases.

Among the standouts were the 1948 166 MM Barchetta, the first Ferrari imported to the United States, and the 1954 Ferrari 375 MM built for Italian filmmaker Roberto Rossellini that won Best in Show at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The street was also littered with the occasional 250 GTO and Testa Rossa, and a pair of LaFerraris, the brand’s hybrid supercar.

The anniversary show happened to come at a tumultuous time for Ferrari. Last month, longtime chairman Luca di Montezemolo resigned, reportedly due to conflicts over strategy with Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Ferrari parent company Fiat SpA. He left in a huff, reportedly saying that especially since his brand was integrated into Fiat Chrysler, “Ferrari is now American…[which represents] the end of an era.”
Given that frustration, maybe it’s better di Montezemolo didn’t see the centerpiece of the L.A. show, the F60 America. Built as a tribute to the 1967 275 GTS4 NART Spider, the car is based on the F12 Berlinetta coupe tourer, but with a convertible top. Like the NART, Ferrari will build only 12 examples of the car, all of which are already spoken for.

With Marchionne now at the helm of Ferrari, presumably with some strategic shifts in mind, it’s as good a time as any to enjoy the classic and contemporary prancing horse stars that consumed Rodeo Drive.

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - Nissan ZEOD RC Laps the Top Gear Track - Faster than a Ferrari FXX [Video] - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Remember what happened when Top Gear tried to lap a three-wheeled Reliant Robin on their test track? Yep, the Stig rolled it over. But the three-wheelers have evolved a lot since the Reliant Robin and Nissan is here to prove it around the same track in their ZEOD RC.

Although you can’t really say the Nissan ZEOD RC is a true three-wheeler, you have to admit it looks like one. However, the Japanese automaker took the shabby tricycle-with-a-cab idea and turned it into a record breaking prototype.

The problem with the Reliant Robin was that its center of gravity was wrongly managed, having the engine at the front, where there’s only one wheel in the middle. Take a look at the Morgan Three-Wheeler for the best example of G spot managing - engine is still up front, actually hanging out of the body, yet it still turns like a dream. That’s because the engine is flanked by two wheels and when the car dives into a corner, the engine’s inertia is countered by the outside wheel.

A three-wheeler like no other

by Gabriel Brindusescu

http://www.fzrestoration.com

The guys over at Nismo said a high-tech prototype looking like the wooden Morgan won’t cut it so they kept the classic trike combination but played with dynamics quite a lot. Two narrow wheels at the front spaced by the world’s shortest track, two fat tires at the back, light pointy nose and a powerplant right behind the cockpit.

And boy what an engine - a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline unit making 400 hp (298 kW) and 380 Nm of torque (280 lb-ft) that weighs only 40 kilos (88.2 lb). But that’s not all, as the unit is backed up by two 110 kW (147 hp) asynchronous electric motors. This enables the racecar to work in hybrid or even pure EV mode.

Although the ZEOD RC failed to finish this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race as a “garage 56” car, the prototype was the first to lap the Circuit de la Sarthe using only electric power. It even reached 300 km/h (186 mph) without the gasoline engine kicking in to help.

Now, Nissan brought the wing-shaped car at Top Gear’s test track to show them “three-wheelers” are not that bad. How did it perform? We’ll only say that it outscored the record set by Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari FXX (1.10.7) by about 5 seconds.

Vintage and Exotic Car Restoration Livermore - James Glickenhaus buys the spectacular Ferrari 512S Modulo from Pininfarina [video] - FZ Restoration - 925-294-5666

Only one ever made

James Glickenhaus has recently purchased the Ferrari 512S Modulo concept developed by Pininfarina.
Many consider the 1980 four-door Ferrari Pinin concept as being the most special car to wear the prancing horse logo but in reality it's probably a concept that came out a decade before. It was 1970 when the 512S Modulo was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, a 512S chassis and drivetrain wrapped around in a wedge-shaped body created by Pininfarina.

The one-off concept has now joined an already impressive collection owned by James Glickenhaus who also has numerous other precious automobiles, with the most popular ones being the P4/5 and P4/5 Competizione. He managed to convince Pininfarina to sell the Modulo concept at a yet undisclosed price tag and just like he did with the Dino Competizione, the 512S Modulo concept will actually go through some modifications in Europe to become roadworthy as Jim is known to drive all of his cars.

The 900 kg concept is 4480mm long, 2040mm wide and 935mm tall while the wheelbase stands at 2405mm. Power comes from a V12 5.0-liter engine generating 550 bhp (410 kW) working together with a five-speed manual gearbox. Only one was ever made so sky's the limit in terms of the price paid by James Glickenhaus.

Ferrari F40 goes camping 3

Images with a legendary Ferrari F40 have went viral over the web after its owner has decided to take it camping, in Japan.

Ferrari F40 goes camping 8

When it was introduced a few years back, the Ferrari F40 has probably had its engineers think about almost every possible scenario, except for camping probably, but we all know that some supercar owners like to do weird sh… things to their rides so the images posted below are actually showing the legendary vehicle on a camping trip. Its owner has tied a roof and other necessary camping gear to the roof of the supercar and went on his adventure.

Ferrari F40 goes camping 15

The Ferrari F40 has been produced in just 1,315 units between 1987 and 1992 and it is considered by many to be the best supercar ever. The model was being offered in a two-door coupe body style, with a mid-engine and a rear-wheel drive layout. This is taking its power from a 2.9 liter twin turbo V8 engine, which is capable of producing 478 HP (352 kW) and 577 Nm (425 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint takes just 3.9 seconds and top speed stands at 320 km/h (200 mph).
