Lord March has welcomed racing legends past and present at the motor circuit,
including Damon Hill, Lewis Hamilton, John Surtees and Kimi Räikkönen, who was
making his debut at the Festival of
Speed.
The last day of the event was one of the most exciting, with
Surtees and Räikkönen driving title-winning Ferraris in tandem up the hillclimb.
This marks the 50th anniversary of Surtees’ 1964 Formula One
World Championship triumph.
He once more got behind the wheel of his 1964 Ferrari 158
F1, while Räikkönen drove the Ferrari F2007 he steered to victory in 2007.
Damon Hill said: ‘This is always a great event, and really
does get better and better every year. It’s wonderful for the area, and for
people who love motorsport.’
Also racing yesterday afternoon was female racing driver
Lorina McLaughlin, in a Benetton B192.
