The late great Colin McRae was known for a few defining
characteristics, but perhaps none better than fearlessness and outright speed.
That combination lead to blisteringly fast rally stage times and the occasional
massive jump.
As a small token of respect to the departed racing legend,
the organizers of Rally Sweden have lent McRae’s name to a particularly large

Rally driver Thierry Neuville punches his Hyundai
i20 WRC car and rockets over Colin’s Crest to a staggering distance of
144 feet. That not only claims this year’s award for longest leap but
annihilates the previous records. Neuville himself nabbed the award back in
2013 after an impressive 115 foot jump, with none other than Ken Block in his Fiesta WRC notching the overall record in 2011 at 121
feet.
Frankly, 144 feet traveling through the air is nothing short
of sprouting wings and flying. It’s not surprising that Neuville and his
Hyundai would finish the rally in second place overall. We can see why.
