Another example of the rare and impressive Ferrari 458
Speciale has been involved in a crash, this time in South Africa.
The Ferrari 488 GTB may be more powerful than the
range-topping 458 Speciale but that doesn’t mean that the older one is good for
the scrapyard just yet. Unfortunately this news is bringing us a crashed
example of the impressive exotic model which has been involved in a sad
incident recently, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to Wrecked Exotics, the model in question has been
driven above the speed limit and the guy holding the wheel has lost control and
crashed into a wall. This has caused some severe damage to the supercar’s front
end but happily no one was injured in the crash and chances are that the driver
has got out safe as well. We are not sure if the insurance will be covering the
incident but the owner should expect a huge servicing bill for returning his
ride to its former glory.
The Ferrari 458 Speciale is the spiritual successor of the
360 Challenge and F430 Scuderia. The supercar has been based on the 458 Italia
and it is making use of the same 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, which
has been upgraded and it is now capable of producing a total of 605 HP (445 kw)
and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph), the model needs
just 3 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph), this can do it in 9.1 seconds.
The 458 Speciale has been shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show, back in 2013.
